A Sanction for Christmas
In November 2017 my health was at an all time low, so low in fact I had to spend some time on hospital. Those few weeks were very stressful for me because all I could think about was how being in hospital would effect my universal credit. Instead of worrying about my own health, I was terrified of the punishment I would receive for not doing my jobsearch or not attending an appointment. I had informed the job centre of my situation and followed all the rules of taking a 'sick day' but it didn't matter. On the day that I got home from hospital I found the dreaded brown envelope from universal credit, informing me that I had been sanctioned. My sanction started in December just before christmas, like it wasn't bad enough I was spending Christmas alone I now had to survive on even less money than usual. The first thing I did was try to cut any unnecessary expenses, I cancelled my Netflix subscription and limited myself to only buying things that I absolutely could not g
